1982-1992 Trans Am WS6 Ram Air Box Installation Instructions

Step 1. If you have a mass air flow (MAF) sensor you will need to cut the elbow part of it off with a hacksaw. Then take a grinder and grind off the 1/8” raised lip that is on the outer rim of the MAF sensor so that the 3”x1.5” hose will slide onto the end where you cut the elbow portion off.

Step 2. Slip the 3” x1.5” black hose over the end of the MAF sensor and fasten it with a 3” hose clamp. Then with a hacksaw, cut off the gooseneck of the air box 1” from the edge of the box. Then attach the MAF sensor with the 3”x1.5” hose to the air box and fasten with a 3” hose clamp.

Step 3. Attach the ram air box to the radiator housing so that the throttle body lines up straight with the hose attachment of the ram air box and bolt it into place using your existing holes and 7/16” bolts.

Step 4. You will need to purchase a short 3” flexible duct hose from a local Pontiac Dealer parts dept. part number GM #25170358 and replace the long existing hose on your throttle body. Connect the hose to the throttle body and the maf sensor using 3” hose clamps.

Step 5. Once you have your maf sensor in place you will need to extend the wire length on the maf sensor electrical supply wire to reach the new location of the sensor.

Step 6. If you do not have a maf sensor then ignore steps 1, 2, & 4. You can use your existing flexible duct hose coming from your throttle body and attach it to the gooseneck on the ram air box, and discard the 3”x1.5” black hose provided with the ram air box.
